Deddington Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

A Referendum relating to the adoption of the Deddington Neighbourhood Plan will be held on 2 May 2024.

The question which will be asked in the Referendum is:

Do you want Cherwell District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Deddington to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area ?

The Referendum area is identified on the map which is included with this information statement.

The Referendum area is identical to the area which has been designated as the Deddington Neighbourhood area.

A person is entitled to vote in the Referendum if on 2 May 2024:

  • they are entitled to vote in a local government election in the Referendum area; and
  • their qualifying address for the election is in the Referendum area. A persons qualifying address is, in relation to a person registered in the register of electors, the address in respect of which they are entitled to be registered.

The Referendum will be conducted in accordance with procedures which are similar to those used at local government elections. The dates for registering and applying for postal or proxy vote and Voter Authority Certificate are listed on the elections timetable.

Eligible electors will receive a separate poll card and postal voters will receive a separate postal vote pack,

The count for the Referendum will take place on Friday 3 May.

Paper copies of the specified documents are also available to view at:

  • Deddington Library,  Old Court House Horse Fair, Deddington, Banbury OX15 0SH
  • Bodicote House, Bodicote, Banbury, Oxon, OX15 4AA - during opening hours which are Monday to Friday: 9:00am to 5:15pm.

The specified documents are:

  • Deddington Neighbourhood Development Plan;
  • Report of the independent examiner;
  • Summary of the representations submitted to the independent examiner;
  • Statement by the local planning authority that the draft plan meets the basic conditions and complies with the relevant legislation;
  • The information statement; and
  • A statement that sets out general information about town and country planning including neighbourhood planning and the referendum.
