Small repairs service
Cherwell Home Improvement Agency and Grants Team working practice during the Coronavirus period
We are unable to provide our usual service at the moment but we shall do our best to keep you up to date with what are able to do and with new dates for work once those can be reorganised.
Our revised service is:
- We will complete adaptations currently on site, where essential, with client’s agreement and where safe to do so.
- We are suspending commencement of all further internal adaptations until government guidance changes.
- We will continue to process new referrals as normal. Application forms will be sent to clients, but CDC officers and external contractors will not be entering occupied properties until guidance changes.
- Small Repairs service limited to fitting key-safes and appropriate external access work.
Our small repairs service is available to owner-occupiers and tenants who are aged 60 or more, are registered disabled, or are suffering from long-term ill-health.
We can help with a wide variety of small general repairs, such as fitting:
- smoke detectors
- key safes
- grab rails
- security locks
- safety chains
- door viewers
We can also ease doors, carry out minor electrical work such as wiring plugs or replacing fuses and minor plumbing work like replacing tap washers.
The cost of the service is £20 (plus VAT) for up to one hour's work plus the cost of any materials. Work for a second hour (or part of a second hour) will cost a further £20. We are not able to undertake work that will take more than two hours.
For security reasons we cannot accept cash. Payments must be made by cheque.
