Crown Walk and Pioneer Square

Project updates

We're pleased to share the latest updates on our Bicester Town Centre Improvement Project.

Our goal is simple: to create a safer, greener, and more inviting space for everyone to enjoy.

What's new in Bure Place and Wesley Square?

The first phase of improvements is now complete, thanks to dedicated funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This funding helps us increase footfall and support our local economy while enhancing the look and feel of our town centre.

Planters for safety and style

We've replaced the old red and white traffic bollard with attractive planters. These not only stop illegal parking but also make the area safer and more welcoming.

Greener spaces and biodiversity

We've introduced new planting, including lavender, which thrives in urban settings and supports pollination and biodiversity. And yes - the bees absolutely love it. These changes bring colour, texture, and vibrancy to the town centre all year round.

Comfortable seating for everyone

New cube-style seating offers flexible, accessible spaces for people to rest, meet friends, and enjoy the town centre. We've also added extra seating near the entrance to Pioneer Square car park, making it easier for everyone to take a break.

What's next?

Phase two is coming soon! We'll be working with local businesses to make Pioneer Square and Crown Walk safer and more enjoyable for everyone, with more plainting, seating, and improvements on the way.
