Get "fit as a fiddle" the Nordic way|

For the first time ever adults aged 50 and over will be able to access free Nordic walking courses in Cherwell, thanks to a successful bid to Age Concern's Big Lottery funded 'Fit as a Fiddle' well being programme.

Keys to the door|

The Vale Housing Association opened its first non-sheltered housing social scheme for the over 55s at a new development in Keys Court, Banbury on 30 June. Cherwell District Council contributed a £225,000 grant to help fund the scheme.

Middleton Cheney eco town gets council backing|

Cherwell District Council threw its support behind a proposed eco town at Middleton Cheney this week. But the controversial proposal isn't a government initiative. Instead it's the idea of teachers at Chenderit School, who were keen for their pupils to learn about town development, government decision making, planning policy and the power of persuasion.

Supermarket scheme proves popular|

Cherwell's Recycle Week partnership with Morrisons in Banbury was a huge success. Throughout last week, shoppers were encouraged to increase the amount of recycling they do at home and make more use of the facilities on the supermarket's grounds.

Developer confirms interest in NW Bicester eco development site|

Development company P3Eco has expressed interest in creating proposals for an eco settlement at Cherwell District Council's promoted site to the north west of Bicester. Devised as an alternative to the eco town proposed for Weston Otmoor, the NW Bicester site will provide 5,000 high specification eco homes and 5,000 jobs for local people if the Government decides it should go ahead.
