You are not eligible if your account has already been passed to an Enforcement Agent (bailiff). In these circumstances, payment arrangements must be made directly with the Enforcement Agent.

Before starting
Please have the following information available:
- Your Council Tax account number.
- Property address.
- Employment and/or benefit details.
You should also work out what you can realistically afford to pay each week or month.
The Council will review your proposal and confirm within 10 working days whether it has been accepted.
Please note that arrangements:
- Exceeding 24 instalments; or
- Offering less than £25 per month
are unlikely to be accepted.
If you have arrears from a previous year, you may set up an arrangement to repay these. However, you must continue paying your current year's Council Tax instalments separately. Future Council Tax charges will not automatically be included within an agreed repayment arrangement.
Where an arrangement is offered after a summons has been issued, court proceedings will continue and a Liability Order will be obtained. However, provided payments are maintained as agreed, no further enforcement action will be taken.
What happens if I don't make a payment arrangement?
The Council will continue recovery action using other methods, including:
- Attachment of earnings.
- Attachment of benefits.
- Enforcement agent action.
Once recovery action has commenced, the Council will only intervene to cancel it in exceptional circumstances.
