There are many ways to pay your Council Tax
Register with My Account now to pay your Council Tax bill, set up a direct debit and keep a track of your payments.
All you need to register is your eight-digit Council Tax number. To set up a direct debit you will also need your bank account number and sort code.
You can use this form to register if you are moving into the area.
Online payment
Payment can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Switch/Maestro and Visa Delta.
Home banking
Payment can be made through your online banking to:
- Sort code: 62-24-42
- Bank account number: 00000000
- Quote your council tax account number as the payment reference.
Pay by direct debit
Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay. Payments are made automatically by your bank or building society and you're fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.
Pay in person
At a Post office
This service is only available if you have a council tax bill displaying a barcode. The Post Office will charge a fee and you should allow 10 days for the payment to reach us.

Pay by post
Cheques should be made payable to Cherwell District Council. Please write your Council Tax reference number on the back of the cheque and post to:
Finance, Cherwell District Council, 39 Castle Quay, Banbury, OX16 5FD.
Receipts are no longer issued so please refer to your bank to ensure the payment has been made.
