Paying your Council Tax by Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay and gives you the choice of payment dates.
Setting up your direct debit
You can choose to make your payment on the 1st, 9th or 25th of each month. If your account is up to date you can spread your payment over 12 months instead of 10 months if you wish.
Direct Debit safeguards and guarantees apply. No change in amount, date or frequency can be made without notifying you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited. In the event of any error, you are entitled to an immediate refund.
You have the right to cancel a direct debit instruction by writing to your bank or building society, with a copy to us.
Direct Debits can now be set up online or over the phone. You will need to provide:
- Your bank or building society name
- Account number
- Sort code
- Branch address.
and you will need to confirm:
- you are a named account holder of the account you want to be debited
- you are the only person needed to authorise a direct debit from that account
