Cherwell District Council has launched its next round of the Household Support Fund, demonstrating its strong commitment to supporting residents, providing local charities and community groups with grants to help resident-focused projects.

The money has come from Oxfordshire County Council’s allocation of this national initiative. £55,000 of this will go towards grants to support projects providing key cost of living assistance to residents and £45,000 will go towards supporting community food partners helping those most in need.

Councillor Rob Pattenden, Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities, said: “Community groups are the beating heart of Cherwell and shape the identity of who we are as a district. It is important to us that groups are empowered to deliver projects right where they are needed. This Household Support Fund is a vital tool in helping us build a stronger, more connected Cherwell. It ensures that residents and groups are being supported where it matters.

“We are investing in our local communities and giving power back to those who know their local areas best. We believe that real change starts at a grassroots level, and these grants are a great way for community groups to make Cherwell a place where everyone feels supported, included, and proud to call home.”

Community groups are invited to apply for a grant of up to £3,000 for projects that support the provision or storage of food, development of activities involving cooking, growing or nutrition/food education, hygiene products and household equipment.

The Household Support Fund is currently live, and eligible groups working within north Oxfordshire can find out more and apply for a grant online on the council website. Applications need to be submitted by Sunday, 23 November.
