Everyone will be welcome to join these free celebrations on Saturday 8 July between 11am – 4pm.

Circus themed activity will include impressive acts including a hoop artist and an amazing magic Ring Master who will be hosting the day. There will also be circus skills and craft workshops for visitors to enjoy. The Light will also be showing special screenings of the Greatest Showman on the day.

Plus, the centre will be launching its pop-up park and free games area outside Lock29. Amongst newly installed astroturf there will be a range of iconic games for families and friends to enjoy daily, including giant Jenga, cornhole toss, noughts and crosses and Connect Four. The games can be used during centre opening hours between Monday to Sunday. There will also be live music within Lock29 for all to enjoy on the day.

The Waterfront’s varied leisure offer includes a premium cinema, 10-lane bowling alley, adventure climb arena, arcade, karaoke room, interactive darts, mini-golf, American pool and diner at The Light. There is also a PizzaExpress, Nando’s and Premier Inn. Plus, The Greenhouse and Terrace next to The Light offers a rooftop dining experience with views of the canal and surrounding area; they also serve some of the best cocktails in Banbury and have recently launched a new menu.

All entertainment on the day will take place in and around the newly installed pop-up park. The entire event on Saturday 8 July is completely free and open to everyone to attend.

Councillor Eddie Reeves, Cherwell District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Property, said: “The popularity of Waterfront has been incredible - it is a brilliant attraction, in a leading development, that has created a much-needed leisure destination in the town for everyone to enjoy from day to night – seven days of the week. There is now a real buzz in Banbury, and I believe a lot of this excitement can be attributed to the creation of Waterfront. The 8 July sounds like a really fun way to mark this anniversary and I hope as many people in Banbury and the surrounding areas visit.”

Oliver Wren, Centre Director Castle Quay, said: “We’ve had a tremendous 12 months. The reaction to Waterfront has been remarkable and allowed us to attract an even more diverse customer to the centre, as well as to Banbury. Visitors love the varied leisure mix we have and The Light, with its premium dining and cocktail offer, has really tapped into a gap in the local market. So, there was no way we couldn’t mark this anniversary with something extra-special and a Greatest Showman themed event seemed the perfect celebration.”
