Public Participation

What do I need to do if I want to speak?

In order to speak at a Committee (apart from Planning Committee), you must be:

  • On the electoral register for the district; or
  • Someone who lives in the district some or all of the time; or
  • A council tax or business rates payer for the district

Requests to address a meeting have to be addressed to the Director of Law and Governance, and can be made via email to democracy@cherwellandsouthnorthants.gov.uk or telephone to 01295 221534.

Your request should include:

  • The meeting and item you wish to speak on; and
  • Your reasons for wanting to make an address; and
  • Confirmation that you meet one of the eligibility criteria listed above.

Please note, no person may address more than one meeting on any particular issue.

Requests to speak can only be made once the agenda for a meeting has been published, which is 5 working days before the meeting (not including the day of the meeting). The deadline for requests is noon on the working day before the meeting. No requests will be accepted after the noon deadline.

The meeting calendar gives dates of all meetings.
