Setting up a Direct Debit

Paying by Direct Debit is the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to pay.  The Direct Debit safeguards and guarantees apply so no change in amount, date or frequency can be made without notifying you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited. In the event of any error, you are entitled to an immediate refund.  You also have the right to cancel a direct debit instruction by writing to your bank or building society, with a copy to us.

Direct Debits can also be set up online or over the phone, you will need to:

  • Your bank or building society name
  • Account number
  • Sort code and
  • Branch address.

Personal account or single signature

If this is a personal account or only one person is required to authorise debits on the account you can do it easily online.

If it is a business account and more than one person is required to authorise debits on this account please download and print the direct debit form.

Complete the whole form, including official use box using a ball point pen, sign it and return to us via email business.rates@cherwell-dc.gov.uk.  Or, if you prefer you can post it to Cherwell District Council, PO Box 27, Banbury, Oxon, OX15 4BH.
