Ways to vote

Vote in person

Please note it is now too late to register to vote in the May 2021 elections. The deadline to do so was 11:59pm on Monday 19 April 2021.

Most people choose to go to a polling station to vote in person.

About a month before election day you will get a poll card in the post. This will tell you what the election is for and where your polling station is.

When you go to the polling station you will be asked to confirm your name and address. The staff in the station will give you a ballot paper and you can cast your vote in secret.

If you take your poll card with you it will make the process a bit quicker but don’t worry if you forget it, you will still be able to vote.

There will be some extra measures in place at the polling station this year due to the coronavirus. Help to keep yourself and others safe at polling stations on 6 May. Clean your hands, keep a safe distance, wear a face covering, bring your own pen, and do not vote in person if you feel unwell.
