Cherwell District Council has established the Bicester Community Insight Fund to assist local charities and community groups that provide support to local residents.

Groups can take advantage of funding through a new Community Insight Profile created by Cherwell District Council in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) and Community First Oxfordshire, with grants funded by OCC’s Public Health team.

Councillor Rob Pattenden, Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities, said: “Community Insight Profiles provide us with a crucial step in understanding the health and wellbeing challenges faced by residents in specific areas. We are delighted to have developed this new profile for Bicester, as it gives us in-depth knowledge that allows us to target support where it’s needed most.

“This funding marks a significant step forward for west Bicester, helping us to deliver real improvements that will benefit residents, businesses and the wider community. We’re committed to investing in the future of our district, and this support will enable us to unlock new opportunities, enhance local initiatives, and ensure social growth for years to come.”

There are currently four Community Insight Profiles in Cherwell, Ruscote, Neithrop, Grimsbury and west Bicester. In the past year, 29 projects have been funded by the Banbury Community Insight Fund, including initiatives focused on mental wellbeing, children's sports, arts, and gardening activities, which have had a significant positive impact on the local community.

The Bicester Community Insight Fund is currently live, and eligible groups working within the west Bicester ward can apply for a grant of up to £3,000 online on the council website.
