Cherwell District Council’s Executive agreed the funding at its meeting on Monday, 2 November.

The funding is earmarked for projects throughout the district, meaning community benefits across the whole of Cherwell.

The allocation will fund projects agreed by the local Area Oversight Groups and voted on by ward councillors. These projects were chosen as they are deliverable and will make a real and positive difference to communities and builds upon previous funding agreed in July and September.

Projects include enhancements to community facilities, initiatives that drive town centre vitality, schemes that improve the visual appearance of key buildings and improvements for youth provision.

Councillor Lesley McLean, Leader of Cherwell District Council and Portfolio Holder for Strategic Leadership and Regeneration, said: “This funding approval reflects our commitment to placing local communities at the centre of our decision-making.

“The projects supported through this funding have been identified locally and will deliver benefits across Cherwell, from improving community facilities and public spaces to supporting town centres and opportunities for young people.

“By investing in these projects, we are helping to create vibrant places, support thriving communities and provide lasting benefits for residents and businesses.”

This announcement marks the latest round of funding. Work already started earlier in the year on numerous projects throughout the district, including improvements to green spaces, town centre cleaning, as well as work to enhance sports and nature facilities across the district.
