Cherwell District Council, in partnership with Banbury Quays Consortium, will deliver a strategy that will put community wellbeing at the heart of the town.

The plan follows a study that highlighted the value the cultural sector brings to Banbury, contributing over £2 million to the local economy each year.

Councillor Rob Pattenden, Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities said: “Banbury’s cultural sector is a powerful force for regeneration, wellbeing and economic growth. We are proud to support the ‘Made in Banbury’ strategy, and back the creativity, collaboration and ambition of our local organisations.

“Culture brings people together, fosters inclusion, and creates opportunities for all ages to connect, learn and thrive. This strategy is about making Banbury a place where creativity drives regeneration, and where residents and visitors alike feel inspired and welcomed.”

The Made in Banbury strategy will also support the delivery of the council’s wellbeing strategy and Banbury Area Priority Plan. A council grant of £3,000 over two years will aid with the promotion and marketing of community focused events.

The Banbury Area Oversight Group, made up of community leaders, business representatives, and local council members will oversee the running of the strategy to ensure delivery and accountability.
