Cherwell District Council was joined by members of Tim’s family as it placed a plaque on a bench on Sheep Street commemorating its much-loved employee.

Councillor Rob Parkinson, Portfolio Holder for Safer Communities, said: “Tim was a highly valued and respected presence in the Bicester community, he truly had a passion for people and putting others’ welfare at the heart of all he did.

“During his 18 years with the Community Safety Team, Tim embodied everything you would wish from a warden; he was compassionate, caring, listened, always stood up for what was right and treated everyone with respect.

“His example is one that will never be forgotten, and the council were honoured to be able to consult with Tim’s family to find a fitting way to pay tribute to the man who meant so much to so many.

“This memorial plaque has been placed in Sheep Street, a place where Tim could frequently be found whilst on his local patrol. It was only fitting that Tim’s legacy was recognised in the heart of Bicester, a town he loved so much.”

Joy Davies, Tim’s wife, added, “I am very grateful to Cherwell District Council for placing the plaque.  As a family we are very proud that Tim was able to work in the town that meant so much to him and that he was passionate about.”

Cherwell District Council’s Community Safety Team play a vital role in supporting the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors across north Oxfordshire. They carry out patrols in Banbury, Bicester, Kidlington, and surrounding villages, and are friendly faces on hand to provide reassurance, offer advice, and be a visible point of contact for the community.

All wardens are trained to a police-accredited standard, and their role includes addressing anti-social behaviour and working closely with Thames Valley Police and other partners to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
