About our inspections

We make statutory and routine inspections during the construction stage of the building to ensure compliance with the building regulations and other allied legislation and guidance. 

Book an inspection

Before you book an inspection make sure you have the following information ready:

  1. Reference number
  2. Site address
  3. Builder's name, address and telephone (first inspection only).
  4. Work requiring inspection.
  5. Date work will be ready for inspection

Inspections must be booked before 4:30pm and arrangements will be made for a site surveyor to call at the site on the following day.

List of inspections

A 24 hour notice period is required for the following inspections (Please note that it is your legal responsibility to notify us of commencement under section 16(1) of the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended). Even if you do not require a physical inspection at that point, it gives us the opportunity to contact you to discuss any construction matters/questions relating to your project which might impact on the progress of the work):

  • Commencement
  • Excavation of foundations
  • Material laid over site
  • Damp-proof course laid
  • Drain ready for inspection and test
  • Drain backfilled and ready for test
  • Floor joists
  • Roof timbers
  • Steels

We aim to carry out a series of intermediate inspections on elements such as floor joists and roof timbers. Please let us know when you reach these stages.

Final inspection

A final completion inspection must take place within 5 days of completion to ensure all work carried out is compliant with building regulations.

A completion certificate will be issued upon successful inspection.
