Self-build and Custom-build Register
The Register
We are required by legislation to keep a register of individuals and associations who would like to self or custom-build in the District.
Self and Custom build housing includes a number of different types of projects. These can vary from where individuals or an association are involved in building or managing the construction of their home from beginning to end, to the other end of the scale where they commission their home, making key design and layout decisions. Cherwell District Council has been at the forefront of providing opportunities for self and custom-build through Graven Hill – which is the UK's largest self-build and custom and new homes community.
If you are seriously interested in self-build or custom housebuilding in the Cherwell District and meet the eligibility criteria you can:
Join the Self-build and Custom-build Register
You can register your details as:
- An individual or
- An association if you are interested in a group build. The lead contact for the association should enter the details of the association on the register including how many plots are required. All members of the association must meet the eligibility criteria.
Please read the eligibility criteria before registering your interest.
In submitting this form you are agreeing that we can use the data you provide to understand the demand for self-build and custom-build housing in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
Personal details included on the register will not be made public, but headline data may be published such as; the overall number of individuals/groups registered; geographical areas of interest; and types of housing sought.
If in the future you decide that you are no longer interested or if you want to amend your details, please email selfbuildregister@cherwell-dc.gov.uk.
By signing up you will help us to understand the demand for self and custom-build housing in Cherwell. The legislation requires the council as local planning authority to grant enough planning permissions to meet this overall demand. However, registration does not mean that the Council will find you a suitable plot.
