Business waste and the law
- You cannot dump waste at the household tip or in household bins.
- You must use a licensed contractor to get rid of your waste properly and safely.
- You have a duty of care to keep your waste stored securely.
Duty of care
Under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, all businesses have a duty of care for the disposal of all their recyclable materials and commercial waste.
Business rates do not cover businesses for any recycling or waste collections, you are therefore responsible for the management of all the waste that your business produces.
