Epwell Parish Council by-election - 15 June 2023
Following the resignation of a parish councillor for Epwell, the Returning Officer received requests from 10 electors in the parish for a by-election to be held to fill the vacancy.
The Notice of Election was published on 10 May, and the deadline for nominations to be submitted was 4pm on Thursday 18 May. The Statement of Persons Nominated gives details of candidates.
As there are two candidates, the election is contested and polling day will be Thursday 15 June.
There is no legal requirement for poll cards to be issued to eligible electors when there is a parish council by-election. It is a choice for the Parish Council. Epwell Parish Council have decided not to issue poll cards.
The polling station will be Epwell Village Hall, The Square, Epwell, OX15 6LA. Hours of poll are 7am to 10pm.
The deadline to register to vote in the by-election, or to update your details in the event of a name change or house move, is 11:59pm on Tuesday 30 May.
If you will be unable to attend the polling station on 15 June you can apply for a postal vote. The deadline to apply for a postal vote, amend or cancel an existing postal vote, is 5pm on Wednesday 31 May.
Alternatively, if you would like to appoint a proxy, where someone you trust goes to vote in the polling station in Epwell on your behalf, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 7 June.
All electors and in-person proxies will be required to show accepted photo ID before being able to vote. If you don’t have any suitable photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply for a VAC for this by-election is 5pm on Wednesday 7 June.
