Bicester Art and History Walking Trail

The Bicester Art and History Discovery Walk connects heritage landmarks, public art and community spaces around the town centre. Designed with inclusivity in mind, it offers an enjoyable way to explore Bicester at your own pace. The full route is approximately 2.5km, ideal for a lunchtime stroll or family outing. The walk has been developed by Cherwell District Council with funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Main route - Follow the orange fox paw prints through Bicester town centre, passing heritage landmarks, public art and community spaces along the way. 

Alternative route – Follow the green fox paw prints to extend your walk through Garth Park, with time to relax, play or stop for refreshments at Garth Kitchen.

What you need to know

The trail is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of visitors. The route and map highlight safer crossing points; however, please take care and remain aware of traffic when crossing roads. Allow time to explore and enjoy Bicester at your own pace. 

Finding your way

Follow the fox paw prints to guide your journey. The route takes you through Bicester town centre via Sheep Street, The Garth, Priory Road, Causeway, Market Square and Crown Walk. Along the way, discover heritage landmarks, public art and community spaces, with the option to extend your walk through Garth Park. 

Look out for

Keep an eye out for the fox as you explore. Chosen as the walk’s friendly guide, the fox reflects Bicester’s connection to both town and countryside. Curious, adaptable and often spotted in local green spaces, it represents discovery and encourages visitors to look more closely at the heritage, art and community around them.

  • Play: Enjoy Garth Play Park and its inclusive play opportunities.
