Residents of north Oxfordshire who are keen to keep their neighbourhood neat and tidy are being offered help to get involved in the Keep Britain Tidy Great British September Clean.

The event runs from September 11-27 and Cherwell District Council is offering gloves, hi-viz jackets, litter pickers and rubbish sacks to local people who want to be involved. The council will also pick up the rubbish collected.

Councillor Dan Sames, Executive Member for Clean and Green said: “Cherwell District Council works hard to keep the District clean and litter free but we know that residents are often keen to help, especially to spruce up their own neighbourhoods and keep on top of litter issues.

“Our usual Spring-clean events were obviously cancelled this year but this September Autumn clean up provides an opportunity to make up for lost time and tidy up areas after the summer holidays. I know that communities often come together and take great pride in their local areas and clean ups can still take place whilst maintaining social distancing.

“I hope that by late September lots of local people will have taken up our offer of support and that as we move in to October the district as a whole will be looking at its very best.”
