Small and medium sized businesses in Cherwell are being urged to apply for grants to help them with the economic effects of COVID-19, before the deadline expires at midnight this Friday.

Cherwell District Council has already made Small Business and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure grant payments totalling £25,785,000 to 1,965 businesses. A further £990,000 was also allocated through the Discretionary Grants scheme to 135 businesses and charitable organisations which were not eligible under the earlier schemes.
But, in line with Government guidance, the window to apply for the Small Business Grants Fund and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund will officially close at midnight on Friday 28 August 2020.
Councillor Lynn Pratt, Cherwell’s lead member for economy, regeneration and property said: “These grants have been vital to the local economy and have helped to support many businesses and organisations through this very difficult time.
"The vast majority of eligible businesses have now claimed their grants, but with the deadline fast approaching, I urge anyone who still hasn’t applied to do so by the end of Friday.”
