Hundreds of local jobs, education and training opportunities will be available at a community Job Fair in Banbury on Thursday 26 September – open to everyone to attend.
Published: Tuesday, 17th September 2019
The free community Job Fair will be held at Banbury Town Hall (1, Bridge Street), running from 09:30am – 1pm.
The event is being organised by Jobcentre Plus, in partnership with local MP Victoria Prentis, and Cherwell District Council.
More than 18 employers and education and training providers are set to attend, and it’s expected that over 200 jobseekers will come along on the day.
Cllr Lynn Pratt, Cherwell District Council's lead member for estates and the economy, said: “Finding a new job could mean moving to a different industry or adding a new skill set to your portfolio. That can be daunting at times, but the Banbury Job Fair is there to make it easier.
“The wide range of jobs on offer in Banbury is one of the things that makes the town a great place to live. The opportunity to talk to people who are looking to recruit new workers in a friendly setting can open doors for people who are looking to make their next career move.”
Victoria Prentis, Member of Parliament for Banbury, said: “I’m really looking forward to the Job Fair on 26 September, in conjunction with the Banbury Job Centre. After a recent visit, we decided it would be an excellent opportunity for employers to showcase their companies and jobs to local people. In Banbury, we have virtually full employment but the Job Centre are a vital lifeline for many of my constituents so I’m thrilled to be part of the event.”
The full range of exhibitors is still to be confirmed but includes established employers such as Hello Fresh, Tesco, South Central Ambulance Service, as well as a diverse range of large and small employers and education and training providers with live vacancies who want to recruit more people from the Banbury area. Employers are being encouraged to be inclusive in their recruitment and sign up to the ‘Disability Confident’ scheme on the day.
There is no need to book and entry is free.
Employers wanting to promote vacancies at the event are encouraged to get in touch.
