Chairman of the Cherwell District Council Planning Committee, Cllr David Hughes, said: “This is great news for the residents of Adderbury and the surrounding villages. The recreation area will benefit the well-being of the community and improve the quality of life of many residents.
“The idea to use this piece of land for recreational use was part of the Neighbourhood Plan, which shows what can be achieved when people come together to plan positively.”
At present the proposals include creating access to the site from Milton Road, the provision of parking and landscaping so the land can be used for different sports.
At this stage the planning is just for change of use. The village will now be consulted on what facilities they would like to see on the land.
