Cherwell District Council is a lead sponsor for the Cherwell Business Awards, which are being launched on Thursday, 16 November at Norbar Torque Tools in Banbury.

Running from 8:30am to 10:30am, the event aims to encourage networking, celebrate innovation and elicit entries to the prestigious awards, which are now in their seventh year.

Cllr Lynn Pratt, Cherwell’s lead member for estates and the economy, said: “A thriving and well-connected business community is one of the council’s key goals. Sponsoring the Cherwell Business Awards is a clear sign of our commitment to that aim and I am really looking forward to speaking at the launch event.

“Year on year, the awards are creating positive momentum among businesses large and small, celebrating creativity and promoting job creation. It’s not just for established businesses either; start-ups, charities and young businesspeople are all set for their place in the limelight.”

The organisers, Cherwell Business Awards Ltd, are emphasising that the event will be a chance for prospective entrants to meet past winners and discover more about how entering the awards could benefit them.

From 16 November, businesses will be able to apply for the awards or be nominated by a third party. There are 10 different categories, including Young Business Person of the Year, Workplace Wellbeing and Micro Business.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 16 February and the awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 11 May at Heythrop Park, Enstone. For more information on the awards, visit Cherwell Business Awards.

The launch event is free to attend but must be booked in advance via email to admin@cherwellbusinessawards.co.uk or via Eventbrite.
