Time to consider feedback will strengthen Local Plan

A consultation on the future of development in the district will be deferred to allow further consideration of feedback received on the proposed plan at an overview and scrutiny committee meeting.

On Thursday 19 January a meeting of the council executive took the decision to defer consideration of the item until a later date. This will give the council the opportunity to take on board and respond to comments made at an overview and scrutiny meeting on 11 January before proceeding to public consultation.

Councillor Colin Clarke, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: “In the coming years many vital decisions on the future of housing, employment and infrastructure will flow from the Local Plan. It’s a pivotal piece of work for the district and officers have done an excellent job so far in creating a comprehensive draft for councillors to consider.

“We are a council that listens, and the executive feels that taking the opportunity to reflect on the valuable feedback of the overview and scrutiny committee is a prudent step that can only help us deliver a more useful consultation and a more robust final Plan.”

The draft Cherwell Plan will be considered by the executive at a later date and new consultation dates will be announced in due course.
