What is filming and photography?

Filming and photography are the recordings of digital videos and still images. These are recorded by The Council at various council events. This information may include members of the public and those inside, entering or in the immediate vicinity of the event being filmed.

Video recordings and still images, if they show a recognisable person, are considered personal data and are covered by data protection legislation. Anyone who believes that they have been recorded on film or in photographs is entitled to ask for a copy of the data, subject to exemptions contained in the legislation. They do not have the right of instant access.

How we use your information collected

The Council promotes services using a variety of channels including the web, social media, promotional material and the councils own publications to publicise its services and policies. Your image would form part of that publicity.

Who will have access to my personal data?

Images captured through filming and photography footage will only be used by The Council and will not be shared with any other organisation without obtaining your consent. All footage will be stored securely in an electronic system which will only be accessible by authorised users.

What information is processed?

The information processed may include visual images, personal appearance and behaviours.

Retention period

Images captured through filming and photography will be retained for historical and archive purposes. We regularly review our retention policy and will remove footage when it is no longer required these purposes.
