Cherwell Safer Communities Partnership
Cherwell is a very safe district, where the chance of being a victim of crime is very small.
Cherwell District Council works in partnership with a number of statutory and voluntary organisations to prevent crime and disorder, support victims and protect vulnerable people. It does this through supporting a number of multi-agency groups and forums, including county-wide partnerships which coordinate action on common community safety priorities. The council also facilitates the Cherwell Community Safety Partnership.
Cherwell Safety Communities Partnership Plan 2020-2023
The Cherwell Safety Communities Partnership Plan for 2020-2023 provides the platform for the Community Safety team, and its partners, to deliver our shared community safety priorities. These support the Cherwell priorities of healthy, resilient and engaged communities, an enterprising economy with strong and vibrant local centres, environmental sustainability and housing that meets residents’ needs.
The Cherwell Community Safety Partnership priorities are:
- Exploitation, including criminal exploitation, sexual exploitation and modern slavery
- Domestic abuse
- Violent crime
- Serious organised crime
- Hidden abuse, including honour based violence and female genital mutilation
The Cherwell Community Safety Partnership comprises representatives from the six responsible authorities and other organisations who have an interest in the work we can do to tackle these priorities. The partnership meets on a quarterly basis to discuss the progress on the priorities set out in the plan.
The Cherwell Community Safety Partnership reports to the Safer Oxfordshire Partnership.
