Visiting Bicester

Bicester is just 12 miles northeast of Oxford and at its heart is a small historic town with buildings of old stone and the gardens of Garth Park. These delightful gardens have an excellent play area for small children and provide the venue for a popular programme of summer music events.

A colourful market is held on Sheep Street every Friday and amongst Bicester’s interesting independent shops are both a book and a toy shop. There are traditional pubs, cafés and tearooms, as well as restaurants serving Chinese, Thai, Turkish, Indian and Italian cuisine.

Bicester is also home to the famous luxury shopping destination of Bicester Village, now with over 150 boutiques; and to Bicester Heritage, the UK’s first dedicated centre for the restoration and display of vintage and classic cars, motorcycles and aeroplanes.
