Visiting Banbury

The market town of Banbury is set amidst the gentle rolling hills of the north of the district.  An impressive bronze statue of the “Fine Lady” from the famous “Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross” nursery rhyme is set close to the Banbury Cross at the meeting point of the roads from Oxford, Warwick and Shipston-on-Stour.

The town draws visitors to enjoy the colour of its markets and the atmospheric lanes and streets of the Old Town with independent shops and inviting cafes. Enjoy browsing in the Castle Quay Shopping Centre and Banbury Museum, which is set directly beside the Oxford Canal and opposite the 18th century Tooley’s Boatyard, the oldest dry dock working boatyard on the inland waterways (guided tours of the boatyard are available).
