The Finance Team provides support across a wide range of Council and associated company activities, which provides an exciting backdrop for new team members. In addition, the Finance Team is seeking to evolve so that it can provide support in the complex world of a modern local authority.
This role is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the changing landscape of local government funding and help support the Council through the upcoming government funding reforms to be ready for the future.
In this role, you will support the financial management of the Collection Fund and other funding streams of the Council. It gives you a chance to learn and develop all aspects of the Business Rates Scheme and the Council Tax Setting process. From the preparation of budgets, budget monitoring, through to the annual closedown of accounts as well as financial analysis and reporting.
The Finance Team work flexibly and have a hybrid arrangement between Bodicote House, Banbury and home working.

We are looking for a fully qualified AAT member or equivalent with a depth and range of practical accounting experience ideally in a local authority setting.
You will have good excel skills and the ability to analyse complex data. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to support others to have a good understanding of financial matters of varying complexity.
You will enjoy working in a team but will also be comfortable working on your own to meet tight deadlines.
