The Job
You will be responsible for dealing with customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Managing initial enquiries directly from customers and from partner agencies, including assessing urgency of housing need and providing front line advice on housing and other related services. Assisting the team to secure and manage placements in temporary accommodation. The successful candidate will carry a caseload of clients, advising on options to prevent homelessness.
The Person
Previous experience in a housing environment and of working with the public is an advantage, knowledge of office procedures together with experience of working with vulnerable people including those who may be at risk of homelessness. You will be able to work methodically and as part of a busy team, keep accurate records and understand how the statutory duties of local authority must be discharged.
You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active in your approach to work with good organizational skills.
To succeed in this challenging role, you will be someone who enjoys working with people from a variety of backgrounds, have excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
