Banbury Historical Society
The Banbury Historical Society was founded in 1957 to encourage interest in the history of the town of Banbury and neighbouring parts of Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
For over 50 years the Society has published its research, and much of this, over 500 articles, is available through this website.
The Society holds monthly lectures on the second Thursday of the month at 7.30pm, from September to March.
Talks are given by invited lecturers on general and local historical, archaeological and architectural subjects.
Coffee is available after the meeting giving the opportunity to make friends and discuss the subject of the lecture.
Throughout the spring and summer excursions are arranged, and the AGM is usually held at a local country house.
The Society has a close relationship to the Museum, and takes the role of the Museum Friends Group.
Membership of the Banbury Historical Society, Friends of Banbury Museum, is £13.00 per annum which includes access to all the Society's activities and copies of the regular publications.
