| | Planning - local development framework
Local Development Frameworks (LDFs) will form new planning policy for the district to 2026. LDFs were introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and replace the old system of District Local Plans and County Structure Plans.
What the service is for
The Local Development Framework is made up of a series of documents, comprising:
The timetable for the preparation of the Local Development Framework is called the Local Development Scheme (see Downloads on right). Each of the Local Development Documents that we prepare is subject to sustainability appraisal (SA). SA appraises the social, environmental and economic effects of these documents, to ensure that decisions accord with the objectives of sustainable development. The Sustainability Appraisal documents produced so far are available from the related pages section on the bottom left of this page.
How you can access the service
You are able to view, comment on, and see the comments that others have made upon LDF documents by accessing our online consultation system. Comments on our consultation can also be submitted in writing and should be addressed to Head of Planning & Affordable Housing Policy. All LDF documents (including the Core Strategy - Options for Growth paper are also made available online as PDFs.
