Oxfordshire Advocacy

A supervising advocate is required to set up, develop and manage Oxfordshire Advocacy's new Independent Care Act Advocacy Service.
Salary - circa £25,000 pro rata, per annum depending on experience. Part time: 25 hours per week. Fixed term contract until 31 March 2016
Oxfordshire Advocacy supports people to say what they want, to secure their rights and services and to represent their interests. Our trained staff and volunteers provide the advocacy service for all adults including older people, those with dementia and/or those with learning difficulties, mental health needs, physical needs and with sensory impairment.
Currently we provide the IMCA service for Oxfordshire and a generic advocacy service both funded by Oxfordshire County Council, together with a peer advocacy service for older people with cancer.  We have been asked by Oxfordshire County Council to set up the new Independent Care Act Advocacy service for adults in Oxfordshire for one year from 1 April 2015.
As a capable and confident Advocate, with the level 3 Diploma in the National Advocacy qualification, you will work with the Oxfordshire Advocacy Manager, to set-up, develop and manage the new Independent Care Act Advocacy service for Oxfordshire, take responsibility for the line management of staff, the coordination of volunteers, and promotion of the Care Act services to all relevant stakeholders in the local community.
You will bring a proven ability to engage vulnerable people and those from seldom heard groups. It is essential that the post holder works to develop constructive working relationships with service users, carers, and health and social care-related stakeholders particularly ensuring they engage quickly with the Care Act requirement for independent advocacy.  Above all you'll be ready to make your mark from day one.
Professionally qualified, you will bring an impressive track record within an advocacy environment. The post is mainly office based but you will need to have access to broadband services at home.  A clean driving licence is essential.

Cherwell District Council

Our Community Services are seeking a full-time permanent Vehicle Parks and Town Warden to join their team. £21,644.38 per annum.

Parking Services operate a 6 week rota cycle. You will be required to work 37 hours per week (5 days in 7) Monday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays). Working hours may vary between 07:00 - 20:00 hrs. Flexibility for the role is essential. You will supervise the Council's pay and display car parks to ensure that regulations are adhered to by users, and issue excess charge notices when regulations are broken. You will also enforce our Residents Parking Scheme(s). You will be required to help ensure the safe flow of vehicles and pedestrians at Banbury Bus Station, assist in the control of street traders and help maintain the operation of the automatic traffic bollards.

Applicants must have previous experience in dealing with the public. You must also be able to work with minimum supervision and have the interpersonal skills to be able to deal with people in a wide variety of situations using assertiveness and fairness when making decisions. A full driving licence is essential along with a willingness to work outside. A good geographical knowledge of Cherwell District would be an advantage.

Cherwell District Council and South Northamptonshire Council

We are seeking Election Staff. There will be Elections taking place on 07 May 2015 in both Cherwell and South Northamptonshire. We are therefore looking to recruit:

  • Presiding Officers - in the region of £195 per day. Previous experience is essential and you should ideally have been a Poll Clerk at least three times. You will be responsible for managing the polling station, briefing staff, dealing with enquiries and completing paperwork. At the close of poll you will be required to bring all items to an allocated drop off point.
  • Poll Clerks - in the region of £115 per full day / £57 per half day. You will be responsible for recording and issuing ballot papers as well assisting members of the public and opening / closing the polling station.

The hours of poll are 7am until 10pm; however election employees are expected to be at the polling station no later than 6.30am and will be required to remain until the station is fully closed and paperwork completed.

  • Count Assistant - in the region of £50 - £60 per session. Hours of work are 9.30pm until the completion of the count (approximately 4am). Previous experience would be an advantage but is not essential. You will be responsible for sorting and counting ballot papers under supervision.

For all roles you should have a polite and professional attitude, be confident that you can work to a high level of accuracy. It is vital you are able to act impartially and maintain the secret of the ballot and are not working for or on behalf of any candidate.

Attendance at a training session prior to the election is compulsory for all new Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks. Count Assistant training will be provided prior to commencement of the count.

Construction Skills Certification Scheme. Banbury and Bicester College

This revised and updated course will enable you to undertake a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (valid for life) and prepare you for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme Health Safety and Environment Test.  Once you have completed the Level 1 Award and passed the test you will be able to apply for the card.
