| | Banbury fringe walk
Right around the urban fringe where town meets countryside. There are plenty of shortcuts if you do not want to walk the whole distance.
Please note this walk is 10 miles/16 km. Route advice and text amendments Direction 2 - Nadkey bridge is number 172. "Continue along.....brick arch bridge. Turn right over the bridge and go through a field gate, then uphill along the field edge. Go through another field gate at the top and follow a stone track (Canal Lane)towards the main road, passing through a bridle gate just before the houses." Direction 6 - "Cross the road......Giant's Cave park. Turn right and follow the path to a T-junction. Turn left and head for the steps straight ahead." Direction 7 - "Climb the steps and follow the field edge left and then right around the field corner. Bear left and walk through a wooded area then along the field boundary. The village of North Newington can be seen over to your left at some points along this stretch. Please take care through the wooded area as there is some old wire fencing on the ground which is a trip hazard." Direction 8 - "At the end of the first field continue straight on down through a belt of trees and then walk downhill with the field edge on your right."
Direction 16 – The stile is broken and the canal towpath is narrow at this point. Please take care. Direction 17 - "Continue along the towpath and under the road. From here follow the towpath alongside Spiceball Park back to the start of the walk. Alternatively you can enter the park and return through it." | |
