There are many ways to explore the countryside, some of which are listed below:     

Circular Walks

We publish a series of downloadable Circular Walks booklets for you to explore off the beaten track. A link to this page can be found on the left hand side.  Many many farmers allow additional permissive access to their land.  Details are available from the DEFRA Country walks website (link right).

If you prefer a more independent approach to exploring the local countryside we recommend you use an Ordnance Survey Explorer Map.

For free information on easy access routes all over the UK you can visit Walks with Buggies and Walks with Wheelchairs (registration required).

Cycling

There are also four Circular Rides booklets (3 cycling, 1 cycling/equestrian) on quiet roads and bridleways. A link to this page can be found on the left.  Two routes of the National Cycle Network (5 & 51) come from Oxford through Banbury and Bicester.

Fishing, Golfing, Horse riding and rural accommodation

The Oxford Canal
