| | Banbury Historical Society
The society was founded in 1957 to encourage interest in the history of the town of Banbury and neighbouring parts of Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
The Society are also Friends of Banbury Museum and support the Museum's activities. MeetingsMeetings are held monthly from September to March at 7.30pm in Banbury museum. Talks are given on general and local history, archaeology and architecture. There are several summer excursions and the AGM is normally held at a nearby country location. The education studio at Banbury museum, where meetings are held, is fully accessible by lift and is therefore easily accessible by wheelchair users. An audio loop is fitted. Cake and Cockhorse onlineFor almost 50 years the society has published research on Banbury and the surrounding area thrice yearly in its journal. This extensive archive is now available online - please use the advanced search (above right) and tick the box marked 'Banbury Historical Society - Cake and Cockhorse'. Membership and subscription ratesMembership benefits include a winter programme of lectures and a summer excursion programme. In addition all members receive the Society's thrice yearly Cake and Cockhorse and records volumes.
