Can I submit a CV to apply for a job?
A
Applications need to be made using our application form which can be downloaded from our website. CV's can be used to support an application form but will not be considered alone.

Do I need to submit my application by the end of office hours on the closing date or any time that day?
A
You can submit applications up to the closing time that is advertised in the job advert. Closing times may differ from vacancy to vacancy.

Do you accept applications after the closing date?

Unfortunately we do not accept applications received after the closing date.

Can I request an application form to be sent in the post?

You can submit your application by email to recruitment@cherwell-dc.gov.uk or by post to Human Resources, Cherwell District Council, Bodicote House, Banbury, Oxon, OX15 4AA

If I am not successfully shortlisted for the role that I applied for; will I hear anything from you?
A
Unfortunately due to the high volume of applications received we will not be in touch if you have not been shortlisted.

What is the interview process?
A
You will be contacted by telephone and in writing with details about your interview. There will be a minimum of two interviewers who will ask competency based questions, and you will be provided with the opportunity to ask any questions about the role.

Will there be a test in my interview?
A
If a test is required as part of the interview process we will notify you further details in advance by telephone and in writing.

What happens if I can't make the interview date?
A
Please refer to the interview pack for details of the recruitment manager who will be able to advise if an alternative date can be arranged (this cannot be guaranteed, however we will consider all requests).

What happens if I am not able to make the interview date due to unforeseen circumstances?
A
Please call the contact number provided in your interview letter to let them know you will not be attending.

Do I need to bring ID with me on the day of the interview?
A
Yes we need to ensure we meet our obligations under the Asylum and Immigrations Act

What ID do I need to bring?
A
Applicants will need to bring; current passport or a birth certificate and proof of national insurance number (please refer to the attached Asylum and Immigration information) all identification required will also be detailed be stated in your interview letter.

How will I know if the role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks? (previously CRB checks)
A
If the role requires a DBS check it will be clearly stated in the job advert and recruitment pack.

How soon will I find out if I have been successful at interview?
A
If you have been successful appointed the recruitment manager will call you to make a verbal offer. We do this as soon as we can and aim to get back to you within 5 working days where possible.

What happens after the verbal offer?
A
Once you have accepted the verbal offer we will issue you with a conditional offer letter which is subject to medical clearance, two satisfactory references together with DBS clearance if applicable.
