Development control

To process planning applications and related matters in a speedy and efficient manner, in accordance with planning policies and the Development Plan for the district.

What the service is for

The main areas of responsibility include processing of planning applications, planning appeals, enforcement of planning control, co-ordination of major planning proposals, development advice, design guidance and providing effective protection for trees.

Details required

Planning applications - completed planning application form with accompanying plans and drawings, and relevant payment.

For current application enquiries the application number or address will be needed.

For viewing planning applications online via Public Access - application number/address helps.

For commenting on applications - application number/address.

Pre-application advice - we provide advice for more complex matters, we will require the full address and site location plan with sketches (including measurements) and description of proposed development.

Enforcement - address of property and complaint type details.

Appeals - appeal reference/refused application number/address.

General enquiries - address.

How long will it take

Standard planning application - 6-8 weeks
Major planning application - 13 weeks
Enforcement - 10 working days
General enquiries - 15 working days
